    Substitute Teacher

    Pay based on DOE Daily Rate. Background check is required.

    Class I – Substitute teachers who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree but meet specific employment requirements.

    Class II – Substitute teachers who possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent.

    Class III – Substitute teachers who meet any one or all of the following:

    • A Hawaii-licensed teacher
    • A teacher (including current/retired teachers) who completed a State-Approved Teacher Education (SATE) program

    Kanuikapono Public Charter School is seeking a motivated and student-focused Secondary Teacher to provide engaging and meaningful instruction for middle and high school students in a supportive learning environment. The ideal candidate will inspire students through high-quality instruction, foster critical thinking and academic growth, and create positive classroom experiences that prepare students for college, career, and lifelong success.

    The Secondary Teacher will develop and implement standards-based lessons, monitor student progress, collaborate with colleagues and families, and contribute to a positive school culture grounded in respect, responsibility, and community.   • Special Education (SPED) Teacher

    Kanuikapono Public Charter School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education (SPED) Teacher to support and empower students with diverse learning needs in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction, develop and implement IEP goals, collaborate with families and staff, and ensure students receive meaningful academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to achieve success.

    The SPED Teacher will work closely with general education teachers, educational assistants, service providers, and administration to create inclusive learning opportunities and maintain compliance with federal and state special education requirements. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills while fostering positive relationships with students and families.

    Preferred qualifications include a valid Hawaii teaching license in Special Education or the ability to obtain one, knowledge of IDEA and special education compliance requirements, experience with differentiated instruction, and a commitment to culturally responsive and student-centered practices. Familiarity with Hawaiian culture, values, and place-based education is highly valued.

    Kanuikapono Public Charter School (KPCS) is seeking a visionary, culturally grounded, and instructional leader to serve as Executive Director / Principal. This dual-role leader is responsible for the overall strategic leadership of the academic, operational, cultural, and organizational success of the school. Rooted in ‘Āina based education, and community partnership, the Executive Director / Principal will lead with the primary responsibility for ensuring effective implementation of curriculum and instruction, teacher effectiveness, funding and grant development and management, and strong relationships with families, community partnerships, and the Anahola community. The Executive Director / Principal  will lead the school in fulfilling its mission to provide meaningful, culturally responsive learning experiences for haumāna (students) while strengthening connections to self, ʻāina, ʻohana, and community. This leader must be committed to equity, student well being and success, staff development, the perpetuation of Hawaiian culture through education, and serving the community of Anahola.
